Calibration Label printing issue

Hello everyone!!! We currently use a Brother 9700PC to print our calibration labels and every time we print a label the printer leaves a 1 inch blank before printing the label itself.

I would like to know if this is a driver related issue and if there is a way to eliminate that blank.

The printer is connected to a Windows 7 workstation and running Met/Cal 7.3.38.

Thank!!

If I remember right, we asked the same question to Brother, and were told that the printer needed the 1" blank to seal the label correctly.

Hi again!! Ok for the explanation from Brother but when we print 2 labels back to back there is no blank before the second label.

Is it still normal???

Yes, that is normal. Since a

Yes, that is normal. Since a label was just printed just prior to the second one, it doesn't need to feed the additional tape for it to seal and/or print properly. It only feeds the extra 1" or so when you print the first label after printing has stopped and the final label cut.

You can get around the 1" of waste on individual labels by setting the printer to chain printing in the settings, however this will always leave you one label behind. When you print a label it won't be completely ejected and cut until you print the next one.

Hi again!!!!  Does anyone have a suggestion for another printer that would work with Met/Cal 7.3.38 and up (we are about to upgrade to 8.0.51) because right now with our 9700PC we have way to much waste (almost 50%) due to the 1" blank. We are using a 18mm wide tape and our label is 29mm long.

Thanks again!!!!!

We use Zebra printers here

We use Zebra printers here and have no problem with printing. However we have a perl script that reads the database and writes directly to the print server. So we can specify the exact coordinates of what we want on the label.

The labels we use have spaces between them so that the printer knows to stop after printing a label. So if you buy new label stock maybe that can fix your problem.

We also use Zebra printers

We also use Zebra printers with MetTrack.  However, rather than a perl script to build the label, I'm just using a Crystal Report.  I'm using a Zebra S600.  This is a discontinued model.  I have an S4M, as well, that I'm getting ready to deploy.

It's very easy to write a Crystal Report for printing to a label.  We use 1.5 x 0.75" labels, for the most part, but any label size can be used.

We just purchased a Brother

We just purchased a Brother PT-P950NW to print our calibration labels on.  How do I convert a .pdf label to the format of the printer?  The labels are created in Crystal Reports.  Thanks!
